1- I think that the woman back then did not keep their beauty for long because some of them lived in farms,were it was not verry civilized .They would have to help their husbands with field work.It could of also been that the make-up was expensive.

5. Shadrach had a stern voice and dark eyes. He was a yound school teacher/master. He caught typhoid fever durring his first year of teaching and Ellen Creighton had nursed him back to health. And ever since then she has always considered him as part of the family and looked after him the same way she did her two boys.

A young school teacher/master out of Pennsylvania. His uncle was a professor, of natural philosophy, at McKendree College. Shadrach Yale was a tall, powerfully built youth of twenty, with a firm mouth and grave, dark eyes that gave him the appearance of an older man.

he was a tall powerfull built youth of twenty with a firm mouth and grave dark eyes that gave him the apperence of an older man.he had come out from pennsylvannia three years earlier to study at McKendree college,where an uncle was proffesor of natural philosophy,a subject that later generations would call physics.here he stayed,not just one year as origanaly planed but two but now in 1861 he had hired himself out as a farmhand to matt for the summer and contracted to teach still a third term that fall.

5. Who is Shadrach Yale?

He is a young schoolmaster.He was a tall, powerfully bult, at the age of 20. Shadrach had come from Pennsylvania. He was going to school at McKendree College, he did planned to stay 2 years and now in 1861 he had hired himself as a farmhandto Matt for the summer and contracted to still teach a third term in the fall.

1. I believe that a woman's beautyu was short lived because First off, They probably was too busy with work to worry much about beauty. Second, make-up was probably pretty expensive. Finnally, They didn't get hardly enough "Beauty Sleep" because they worked late and woke up early.

81. I think that womens beauty life was short lived because they had to work more. They did alot of house work, they raised the children, and they worked out on they farm. They really didn't care what they looked like because they would have to get all dirty anyway from doing their chores.

1. Hard Many of her sons died from diseases and other things. She also had hard life ,because she had been payed little for her work.
Her job has farming crops.

A womans life would be tought. They would raise the childred, and prepare the meals. They would also clean and farm the crops whitch manly consisted of potatos, corn, and beans. Most of the meals they prepared were stews and supes. In there spare time they would make clothing for the children or bond with them. Most of the activitys when bonding were reading from the Bible, or lessons. For the boys they would show them to crop. For the girls they would show them to cook and clean.

I think a womens beauty didnot last. Was because they had to work in the fields all the time .
they also did not have alot of the things we have now to help there skin and stuff.

I think that womans beauty was short lived in the 1880s because they really didnt have time to do their hair and put makeup on like the women these days do and they probably didnt have the money to buy all the makeup and stuff they were working all the time so the didnt really have to impress anyone either

1. Women's beauty in the 1800's did not last long, because of the stress. The women had to worry about war, food, work, and money. Work was very tiring. The women also had to worry about family members out in war. That is why women's beauty did not last long.

Ellen had lived through sickness and danger. She gave birth to tweleve children, four that were dead. Jethro was Ellen's youngest and was born in 1852.

1. I think their beauty was short lived because they were hard working women. They didn't have the money or time get fixed up. Also I don't think they cared what they looked like or what anyone else thought.

Shadrach Yale was a family friend of the Creightons (especially Jethro's) he is also a young school teacher. When he came to Jasper County, he had gotten typhoid fever. When Ellen Creighton nursed him back to health, he became one of the Creightons. Shadrach is also a young 20 year old.

Shadrach came to Jasper County to teach at the local school. He is Jethro's teacher and friend. He encouraged him to get a good education. Shadrach is twenty years old, and after catching typhoid fever he became one of the family when Ellen helped him become healthy.

1. I think that the reason that a womans bueaty was short lived because back then they did not have medicine that was good enough to cure some sicknesses. So they did not look very pretty for long.

He had not died like his other siblings had, from the disease that they called Childs Paralysis, that had struck the country that year.
